NMEA 0183 or ASCII sending sensors
NMEA 0183 sensors can be connected using serial or USB connections. All sensors sending ASCII sentences can be decoded. NMEA 0183 among others. There can be dublicated sensors. In this case they are connected to different channels. The system knows that the signal is different when it is coming from a different channel. When higher priority channel is not validated, the system will automatically use the next validated channel. Up to 8 channels are available. Several sensors can share the same channel (in which case they are identified by their NMEA header). Standard NMEA 0183 connections and protocols are used.
